A nonlineated monarchy was a system of governance wherein the succession of the monarch was not hereditary. While this allowed for a multitude of succession options, the only one that was put into use (and thereby the one associated with the term) was that employed by the Imperial State of Southern Alton, which selected a new monarch based on a selection by the Carran Empliate Stone.
