Interstellar Convention on Astronomical Designation

The Interstellar Convention on Astronomical Designation (ICAD) was a convention to establish a universal naming standard for astronomical objects. It was proposed and adopted by the Interstellar Planetary Coherence in [] TEC, and continued to see use into the rule of the Kammakan of Houses. The specific designation of an object was called its Interstellar Designation (ID).


Standard

The ICAD standard was as follows:

Object Type Designation Example
Star System name followed by a capital letter in order from A to Z to designate size hierarchy. "Lokath A"
Planet Orbiting body name followed by a number starting at 1 to designate orbital position, 1 being the closest orbiting planet. "Hydronis AB 1" or "Hydronis 1"
